It was sad for the whole Gray family during the week, as they farewelled our good friend Pete, who is off to New Zealand to enjoy paddock life at the family Farm at Copperbelt Lodge in Palmerston North.
We purchased Pete as a yearling at Karaka Festival sale for $8000. He is now 15 years old and in recent times was showing signs of not coping with the oppressive conditions of Singapore, so Bridget decided to send him home where he can kick back, live a longer and happier life.
Pete originally raced as Imperial Green for us with some friends and won several races. He was an above average racehorse before sustaining an injury. When retiring from racing Bridget taught him to be a very talented Show Jumper and Dressage horse.
Both our children, James and Katie learnt to ride on him and because of the quality of Pete, probably made them both better riders.
Pete you will be missed and we all look forward to visiting you regularly.
