Paddington bounced back from a luckless debut to score a gutsy win in the $20,000 Open Maiden Division 1 race over 1200m on Sunday. The Sebring four-year-old did not get off to the best introduction to his fledgling racing career when he was badly hampered at the start of a Restricted Maiden race over 1200m three weeks ago.
A barrier trial winner in both New Zealand and Singapore, the Australian-bred chestnut gelding was able to recover but it was too late to alter the results at the top end. He ran on pleasingly to run seventh, just under five lengths off Grand Knight. |
